New Green Community set to Grow in El Jebel…if approved
Bonsai Communities, LLC and Ace Lane have a vision of an vibrant eco-friendly community home for over 200 Roaring Fork residents west of Aspen. According to their website, www.bonsaicommunities.com, The Tree Farm would be a mix of multi-unit duplexes, commercial space and live-work lofts.
The developers hope to decrease the community’s carbon footprint by designing a commuter-friendly, solar energized neighborhood for many local residents to live, work, and play. A 200-kilowatt solar farm will power most of the residential units, and almost half of the 71-acre parcel will be dedicated to open space. Plus, the live-work lofts will allow small businesses to thrive without owners/residents commuting to work.
The largest concern for the Roaring Fork Regional Planning Commission and Eagle County planning staff, according to previous proposals, is the added traffic congestion that the community would add to the already traffic jammed Highway 82. To curb this potential issue, The Tree Farm is working with the local transit authority, RFTA, and developing a rapid transit stop within 1/4 of a mile from all of the residential units.
The project is scheduled for review by the Roaring Fork Regional Planning Commission on Dec. 4 in El Jebel.
