Paris, New York, Aspen–Fashion in the Spotlight

Aspen has always been a beacon for fashion for those “in-the-know” , and now there will be a special event just for the avant-garde. March 1-5, 2009 will be the inaugural Aspen Fashion Week, with the guest list focusing on the people in the fashion media world and with daily events beginning at “o’apres ski” (4pm in the afternoon).
Lisa Johnson, the former marketing director for Aspen Chamber Resort Association and creator of Aspen Fashion Week, is hoping to capitalize on the Aspen brand. Johnson cites companies like Prada, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton who maintain beautiful retail stores in Aspen because they recognize the importance of maintaining a luxury retail presence here.
The event will begin on a smaller scale, but 2010 will be the beginning of the elevated runways in white tents, reminiscent of Bryant Park and the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Currently the sponsors include W Magazine, Veuve Clicquot , Plum TV, and Aspen Peak Magazine.
If time allows, please join in on the fun with Aspen Fashion Week’s inaugural event this March 1-5. Not only is the weather historically fantastic at this time of year, the Sky Hotel, St. Regis Aspen, Frias Properties, The Little Nell and Limelight Lodge will be offering discounts for participants.
