Dial 511 for Road Conditions for Colorado
Winter in Colorado offers wonderful scenery and spectacular skiing, along with some unexpected blizzards and hazardous road conditions. Luckily, road conditions are just a phone call away for anyone in Colorado.
Many visitors to Aspen and Snowmass Village fly directly to the Aspen Pitkin Airport, which is the closest airport to ANY ski resort in the US, but there are complications to be expected in any travel, especially for the holiday season. For those travelers who drive through the Colorado Rocky Mountains, one of their biggest concerns is the road conditions.
Just dial 511 from any phone in Colorado and an updated recording will detail the road conditions of the state’s highways and passes. This is much easier than stopping and watching the news on TV or logging onto the internet for this information.
For visitors who are already in Aspen, the Colorado Department of Transportation website can still be very helpful. There are 2 traffic cameras between Aspen and Snowmass Village if skiers want to see if there is traffic between the 4 ski areas (Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk & Aspen Highlands).
