Downvalley Tavern Restaurant to Open in Basalt Area
Downvalley Tavern is scheduled to open in July in the space formerly occupied by Blue Creek Grill in El Jebel. Midvalley’s newest restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, serving neighborhood Italian comfort food with a creative flair, according to owners Chef Drew Scott and his wife, Bonnie. Scott, formerly the chef at Elevation Restaurant in Aspen, says he’s “always had a vision of what (he) wants an ideal restaurant to be – good food in a casual spot without any pretension”.
The menu will include Scott’s modern interpretation of rustic Italian food with a few surprises, offering light, creative salads, cured meats including in-house cured pork, inventive pasta dishes, assorted bruschetta and a few hearty entrees and fish dishes. Vegetarian options created with the freshest vegetables possible will be available, along with a healthy children’s menu. Patrons at the bar can enjoy original appetizers and a good selection of microbrews and inspired cocktails.
The Scott’s are remodeling the restaurant space to create a casual yet inviting atomosphere, with a blend of Old World finishes and contemporary lines. The new decor will include a rustic, brick interior, dark wood, hip lighting and an inviting outdoor patio. Their intention is to create a comfortable bar atmosphere with a menu interesting enough to attract Aspen, Basalt and downvalley customers alike.
Good luck Bonnie & Drew!
