Aspen’s Sky Hotel Listed for Sale

The 90-room Sky Hotel at the base of Aspen Mountain is up for sale.  According to Sky executives, the hotel is not having financial troubles nor is the sale a result of tough economic times.  General Manager Corey Enlowe said there is no list price, but the hotel is accepting offers.

The Sky’s Washington, D.C.-based ownership group, Northridge Capital, purchased the boutique hotel in March 2001 for $14.1 million when it was being run as Aspen Club Lodge.  The owners partnered with The Kimpton Group (this group manages the hotel) out of San Francisco on a $1.8 million dollar renovation to transform the hotel into “an upscale, European boutique hotel,” according to Northridge Capital’s website.  Located across Spring Street from the five-star Little Nell Hotel, the property re-opened in June 2002 as the Sky.

Eastdil Secured, a real estate investment banking company, is handling the sales effort.  Enlowe said the property is being marketed through the company’s internal network.
