Aspen’s Real Estate UP-date

The National Association of Realtors has reported that its pending home sales contract index increased 1% in December and is 10% above December 2008. Real Estate Development Sold (Again) Near Aspen

The 289-acre property that has been known by several names over the last decade, including Sanders Ranch, Bair Chase, Cattle Creek Crossing and Cattle Creek Colorado, has a new owner and name as of last week. The property is now called “Riverbend” and was purchased by Carbondale Investments LLC,  for $15 million from the Garfield County Public Trustee. (more…)

Aspen City Council Passes Emergency Ordinance for Local Homeowners

Aspen West CondoThe Aspen City Council passed an emergency ordinance on August 3rd that will allow a group of condo owners to remodel their Cooper Avenue complex and escape a restriction in the city’s land-use code. The Aspen Art Museum may be expanding and moving to a new home.  In July the Aspen Art Museum announced the selection of Shigeru Ban Architects to design a new 30,000 square foot Aspen Art Museum (the current space is 7,000 square feet) that may be built as part of the Zupancis-Galena redevelopment.  (more…)

New Conservation Easement in Roaring Fork Valley

As of this Wednesday, Cold Mountain Ranch in the Crystal Riv­er Valley was placed under conservation easement, allowing minimal development on the 610 acres. The Board of County Commissioners for Pitkin County approved the resolution, adding this parcel to the 30 million acres that is already protected in the state of Colorado according to the Colorado Ownership Management and Protection. Another Look at Snowmass Village

 

Even though Snowmass Village is usually overshadowed by its posh neighbor, Aspen, the mountain village tucked between Owl Creek and Brush Creek has a very distinct character. The ski resort is one of four owned by Aspen Skiing Co. But while the other three Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, Ajax, aka Aspen Mountain) are in or around Aspen, Snowmass is 8 miles down the road — and a world apart. (more…)
