A large group of Aspen’s second homeowners are from California. Now, a “local” Aspenite has found a home in California. Govenor Arnold Schwarzenegger came to Aspen in March on a work/leisure trip, and went home with a BIG memento.

Aspen Art Museum
The Aspen Art Museum may be expanding and moving to a new home. In July the Aspen Art Museum announced the selection of Shigeru Ban Architects to design a new 30,000 square foot Aspen Art Museum (the current space is 7,000 square feet) that may be built as part of the Zupancis-Galena redevelopment. Part of the charm of Aspen is the ability to walk everywhere in the town! The entire Central Core of Aspen is only a 5-block radius.

March 1-5, 2009
Aspen has always been a beacon for fashion for those “in-the-know” , and now there will be a special event just for the avant-garde. March 1-5, 2009 will be the inaugural Aspen Fashion Week, with the guest list focusing on the people in the fashion media world and with daily events beginning at “o’apres ski” (4pm in the afternoon). This December 6th will be the 3rd Summit for Life fundraising event on Aspen Mountain. Hundreds will go UP, not down, Aspen Mountain this NIGHT, not day, to raise awareness for tissue and organ donation. (more…)

Change is nothing new for ski resort communities, especially when it comes to it’s retail outlets. This week, Aspen saw 4 new stores open for the ski season and a well-known hotel come on the market for sale.
