Aspen Mountain received more than a foot of snow Saturday afternoon into Sunday, and skiers and riders alike were out to enjoy it. All four mountains received 12-16 inches of fresh snow.
The skiing was still amazing today, with warm temperatures, sunny skies and plenty of powder!
We are looking forward to a few more inches over the next 24 hours.

Take a look at Aspen Highlands today. This quick-moving October snowstorm is bringing 6-10 inches to the Aspen area, with Snowmass Mountain receiving 11 inches already today.

Skiing conditions are the best they have been all season thanks to the heavy snowstorm Aspen received earlier this week. The mountains received two feet of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday. The combination of chilly temperatures and bluebird skies has made for the best skiing so far this winter season in Aspen. (more…)

Aspen received an early-season snowstorm this morning, with several inches piling up in town before noon, and more on top of the mountains. A winter storm warning remains in effect until Tuesday, with 8-16 inches expected. We are anticipating a great ski season ahead!
Temperatures are expected to drop this evening, with snow winding down as this fast-moving storm moves out of the area. Sunny skies are expected by Thursday with temperatures back in the 50′s.

Aspen Mountain
Autumn in Aspen is always pretty, but the colors are absolutely stunning at the moment. The Aspen trees are a vibrant yellow and orange, while much of the brush covering the mountains is a beautiful red color. Set against the gorgeous blue sky without a cloud in sight, and a steady daytime temperature of 75 degrees, it truly is paradise! (more…)

Aspen is currently experiencing its first big winter storm, with heavy snowfall of up to 16 inches expected through Thursday evening. According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning will be in effect for the mountains surrounding Aspen until 6pm Thursday.
In anticipation of the storm, the Colorado Department of Transportation temporarily closed Highway 82 over Independence Pass on Tuesday at 3 p.m. CDOT anticipates reopening the pass after the storm if possible, until it closes for the winter season on November 7th.
Skiers and snowboarders, get ready for a great 2009/2010 season!
