Following is an Aspen and Pitkin County Real Estate Sales Summary for the Month of April from Land Title Guarantee Company:
- $119,488,884 – total dollar volume for the month (strongest dollar month thus far in 2011), a decrease of 29% from April 2010
- It should be noted that April 2010 included commercial dollar volume of approximately $43 million
- 73 – total transactions for the month, an increase of 2.8% from April 2010

The event producer behind Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brewfest and Bluegrass Sundays series on Aspen Mountain, among other events, is opening an exciting new venue inside Carbondale’s Third Street Center. According to today’s article in The Aspen Times, his intention is to make it a mult-use theater, available to the community for events, music, festivals and non-profit functions. (more…)

I joined Roaring Fork CrossFit a few weeks ago, and it’s one of the best fitness programs I’ve ever experienced. CrossFit gyms are all over the world, and have opened in several locations throughout the Roaring Fork Valley – Aspen CrossFit at the ABC (Airport Business Center), Roaring Fork CrossFit in Basalt, and locations also in Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. The largest local bank in Aspen, Vail and the surrounding area posted a loss of almost $50 million in 2010, but the news isn’t all bad. Alpine Banks of Colorado lost $48.18 million in 2010 as it continued to shed bad loans and other assets that went sour during the recession, President and Vice Chairman Glen Jammaron said Friday in an interview with The Aspen Times. The bank’s strategy was to respond to the problem as quickly as possible rather than spread the financial pain out over several years. So in 2010, the bank wrote off nearly $90 million in loans, he said. (more…)
